MATERIAL DEFINITION
In the aluminum world, 6082 and 7075 alloys are separated by clear lines according to their usage purposes. 6082-T6 is preferred in general machine bodies and structural constructions for its corrosion resistance and excellent weldability.
7075-T6 is known as 'Aircraft Aluminum'; its tensile strength rises to 570 MPa levels, making it stronger than many steels. However, its corrosion resistance is lower than the 6000 series and it is not suitable for welding. 7075 is unrivaled for high strength/weight ratio in the mold industry and defense.
Both grades are available in Point Metal stock in plate and rod form, with fully traceable analysis reports.
